What Is Kinetic Chain Release? What can it help you with?
Kinetic Chain Release (KCR) is a sequence of gentle mobilisations, stretches and muscle energy techniques that return the body back into balance. It is a whole body therapy that works the feet and ankles, legs, spine, shoulders, jaw, arms, hands and wrists, and pelvis.
KCR was developed by Scottish physiotherapist Hugh Gilbert who worked and taught and practiced this technique around the world and the treatment is ranked a number 1 treatment in USA and Canada!
Who is KCR for:
KCR is for nearly everyone! It is a very gentle technique that makes it suitable for most, young and old!. As long as you can mobilise on and off the therapy bed and are not pregnant or have osteogenesis imperfecta then you can get yourself booked in for this treatment.
KCR is a scientifically proved treatment that can help with a verity of conditions and pains. It is known to bring lasting relief from:
- Fibromyalgia
- Chronic Back Pain
- Chronic Neck Pain
- TMJ Dysfunction
- Osteoarthritis
- Migraine Headaches
- Plantar Fasciitis
- Tennis/Golfers Elbow
- Recurring hamstring issues
- Tight calf muscles
**KCR has been shown to bring significant pain relief within 1-2 sessions!**
MY personal experience with KCR:
My interest in KCR began during my undergrad degree in Sport and Exercise Science. Hugh Gilbert attended one of my lectures to discuss KCR and its benefits. He asked if anyone suffered from shin sprints when running to which I put my hand up, to my horror he picked me out of the whole lecture hall worth of students. He preformed half of the technique on me and gave me follow up exercises (which I did not complete) not only did it resolve my shin splints while I was walking and running but it also resolved my leg pain I had suffered from since teenage years. Slowly these pains did return (I only had half a treatment and I didn’t complete the 3 exercises that go along with the treatment). Anyway fast forward about 3-4 years I have now completed my physiotherapy masters and have secured my first job. I decided to return to the world of KCR and booked myself onto the course. A lot of treatments were given and again great results on my back and leg pain, this is where I fell IN LOVE with this treatment! I love getting it done, its gentle and relaxing and it treats the full body and not just one area! My body feels light, springy and decompressed after KCR. I move better, I sleep better, I feel more relaxed.
I feel that KCR is a great alternative to massage therapy and in SOME cases even physiotherapy! Massage therapy is great for specific tightness in areas, however there is just something about getting the whole body mobilised in this treatment that just feels so nice!
